Frequently Asked Questions

We will discuss your health history and treatment goals during our initial consultation to help determine the best program option for you.

Functional medicine is an approach to healthcare that focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of disease rather than just treating symptoms. It considers the whole person–body, mind and environment–recognizing that various factors like genetics, lifestyle, nutrition, and emotional well-being can all impact health.

Semaglutide belongs to a class of medications known as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists. It works by regulating insulin and glucose metabolism, reducing appetite and helping people feel full faster, which can lead to eating less and losing weight when combined with a healthy diet and exercise.

The benefits of semaglutide include: Weight loss, improved blood sugar control, improved insulin sensitivity, appetite suppression, and improved cardiovascular health (i.e., reduces risk of heart attack and stroke). Individual results may vary.

Yes, semaglutide has been approved by the FDA for weight management in adults with obesity or who are overweight and have at least one weight-related health condition such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, or high cholesterol. It is sold under the brand name Wegovy for this purpose. It’s important to note that although semaglutide is FDA-approved for weight loss, compounded semaglutide is considered “off-label” and is not FDA-approved.

The semaglutide prescribed at Vitality is compounded in an FDA-registered compounding pharmacy that adheres to strict quality standards. It is a semaglutide base (similar to the name brand and does not contain salt forms) with added vitamin B12 to promote weight loss and alleviate side effects.

We are actively working with our drug manufacturer to supply tirzepatide, however, it is not currently available. Be on the lookout soon!

The amount of weight someone can expect to lose on a weight loss program can vary widely depending on several factors, including individual metabolism, starting weight, age, gender, activity level, and adherence to the program. On average, a safe and sustainable rate of weight loss is considered to be 1-2 pounds per week. It is important to set realistic goals and to focus on long-term lifestyle changes rather than quick fixes.
